Business into the United States – how tax issues drive business decisions

This presentation will discuss, at a high level, tax issues that arise when corporations start to do business cross-border, and highlight how tax issues should be considered in making business structuring decisions.

The presenter is Mark Mitchell, MBA, MS U.S. Tax, Chartered Tax Adviser (UK), Enrolled Agent (US).

Mark currently is Director of the U.S. Tax Group at a major Vancouver-based corporation.  He has fifteen years experience advising corporations and individuals on inward investment into the United States, and has been based in Vancouver for nearly ten years.  Prior to moving to Vancouver, Mark worked in Chicago, IL and London, UK.  Mark’s clients have ranged from start-up high tech companies to major cross-border media companies.  As a graduate of Saduer School of Business’s MBA program with a finance specialization, Mark understands how tax drives the business decisions that corporations and their advisers have to address as they plan new businesses and investments, and as they run their day to day operations.
